Need Barcodes in your reports and documents on Windows?
Need barcodes in Word, VB, Access, Excel or other Windows apps?
Now you can do it in a couple of clicks!
No code to write, no complicated instructions, simply install and click!
Barcode X for ActiveX is a drop-in OCX control for Windows applications. What does this mean? Well it means that in any Windows application that supports ActiveX (thats about 90% of them) you can print out bar codes. The best bit is you dont need to know anything about bar codes or programming to make them.
Simply follow the tutorial that comes with Barcode X for ActiveX, it's a three step process:
1. Install the product, with the installer that comes with it.
2. Open your app, choose Barcode X for ActiveX in the menu.
3. Set the barcode number, or a link to a number.
Thats it, no messing about.
What kind of codes are available?
All versions of Barcode X have two licensing options:
1. Two code types, where you choose two code types you require from a list when ordering
2. Full, where you get all the code types the product supports
All the codes available are listed on the features page
If you do not see the code type you require please email us, we will most likely have it.
If I choose two code types how do I know what to choose?
It depends what you are doing.
If you have a closed system for your own use only, we recommend Code39 and Code 128, these codes give you great flexibility and reliability in a large number of situations. They allow you to have Numbers and Letters in the Barcodes.
If you are selling goods to a retailer or wholesaler, you will need UPC or EAN 13, and you may need some others, check with the retailer. If you use EAN 13 or UPC you will have to register as a manufacturer with the authority in your country. See the list here.
If you are selling books you will need ISBN, you will need to register with the authority for your country.
What if I want to rotate the code, change the colour, type, height, scale etc?
You can do that to. Simply select the control and click to change the parameters. If youre a programmer you can do it in code too.
There are many parameters you can change, here are some:
Code Type eg EAN 13, Code 39 etc
Scale in percent (Barcodes are normally measured in percent)
Height in mm
BWR (Bar Width Reduction) This allows for ink spread on your printer, to allow the barcodes to scan even if the ink has spread.
Colour, you can set the background and foreground colour
Rotation, You can rotate the code in 90 increments (other rotations work too but they wont be much good for scanning)
