What is a barcode?
A barcode is a collection of printed or etched lines that stores information.
Barcodes are converted back to readable information using a barcode reader (also known as a barcode scanner) which inserts the information into the currently open screen on a computer or sometimes to a machine such as a point of sale system.
They are commonly used for storing reference numbers to make looking up information easier.
There are hundreds of types of barcode, however the commonly used types are Code 39, Code 128 and EAN13.
